Autumn Budget 2026

The Autumn Budget 2026 contained plenty for individuals and businesses to digest, but one of the more unexpected announcements involved something rather less glamorous: gherkins. As part of the Budget, the Government announced the suspension of import tariffs on 101 food products.

The change takes  effect from 26 November 2026. Whether that saving ultimately finds its way onto supermarket shelves remains to be seen, but it was certainly one of the more unusual details to emerge from the Budget. Of course, gherkins were only a small part of a much bigger package.

The Autumn Budget included a range of tax and policy announcements with implications for individuals, business owners and employers. Understanding what has changed, when the new measures take effect and what they could mean in practice will be important when planning for the months and years ahead.

Our team has reviewed the key announcements and brought together the main points in our Autumn Budget 2026 overview.
